Following a big showing of interest at the last club night, the One-Make event is reborn at WRCS. We'll be using the Phoenix Scanner, and the rules have been added to our rule list - click HERE to see it.
At the moment, the likely date is the same as our Combat and Pylon Day - 15th June 2014, but it is also probable that we'll be able to run a few events for the one-make series throughout the year.
We've had 10 people commit so far. One has already ordered his Scanner, but the club has agreed to bulk-buy them locally for anyone that would like them. The cost will be $125 (they are available at a few $ less on-line, but this is a great price from one of our local stores which gives backup in the event that anything is wrong when you open the box). If you were one of the 10 people that committed to buy one from the club at the meeting on 6th Feb, your plane will be ordered automatically (unless you've let me know that you already have one), but if you change your mind, or if you weren't at the meeting but would like to particpate, please send me a message by clicking This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before 14th Feb, and I'll add you to the list of orders.
Thanks

I'm sorry to report that Alan Place died, of pneumonia, on 30th January.
Alan was a valued member of WRCS for 17 years (until he could no longer fly due to dementia), he was 90 years old (born 7 January 1924).
Alan flew Liberators in WWII, he was also a dive bomber pilot and there were many true stories of his exploits, not least that he was with the "Red Baron" in a forced landing of a Beechcraft Musketeteer at King's School, out of fuel, where the aircraft had to be spun-in due to the field size (an amazing feat), and had to be dismantled and moved out by truck as the field was too small to allow takeoff after refuelling.
At WRCS, he flew the most beautiful scale models. His passing is a marker as he was the last of the WRCS members who flew in the War.
Please be informed that Alan’s Funeral is scheduled on Saturday, 8th February 2014 at 10.00 am.
The funeral will take place at:
Walter Carter Funerals

Our thoughts are with Karen, Alan's widow, at this very sad time.
